Ok so I thought about sending this anonymously but I’m gonna be brave. And pretty sure it’s just because I’m hormonal at the moment, but I’ve been rereading Those Icy Fingers and idk how to describe it. I know when I used to watch HP it would make me weirdly nostalgic for… some thing I could never put my finger on. And rereading your story has me feeling the same way. Like. I miss Lexa. I miss Clarke. I miss clexa. I miss this fandom and how much fun it all was. There were so many good times and god knows even more bad times. But there was such a sense of community and unity and the stories and art that came from it. So many people have moved on. Fics and art and accounts have been deleted. People I used to see on the internet daily are just…. gone. But the memory of what we all used to have is still so present and something about Those Icy Fingers brought it all back to me. I guess I want to thank you and everyone who ever gave us these stories to escape to. Those Icy Fingers is just so well written and I can’t read it without bawling and feeling completely destroyed before it all gets put back together. I know in time more and more people will move on, but knowing what we all got to experience together, knowing that there will still be some stories to revisit will always bring a smile to my face and make me relive such a special time in mine and so many other peoples lives.
<3 sorry I've taken so long to answer this, I've reread it a few times now and it just fills my heart up. Thank you so much <3
Clexa will always be a part of us, in good ways and bad - honestly I think the trauma is a foundational part of us now 😂 the trauma AND the love. Idk man just...there's not quite anything else like it out there, Like...they're just iconic. Enemies to lovers, the lesbian warlord from the ground and the bisexual queen who fell from the sky.
Combine that with the fact that it was years ago when there wasn't nearly as much LGBT+ rep, and the crazy situation of Code 307 and the even crazier (but fucking awesome) response of the fans...AND the fact that this all happened RIGHT before everything in the world went fucking WEIRD in 2016...
Like, idk man idk. The stars aligned for Clexa, that's all I'm going to say - for better or for worse.
Anyway my point is, I do think Clexa is a part of us now in ways, and it's just like I say in TIF, it's always going to feel a little bit like home no matter how far some of us stray. And I'm 100% with you, I feel so honored that there were such incredible works created, true labors of love, and we are so lucky to be able to go back and immerse ourselves in them any time. It's absolutely so cool knowing we get to revisit them whenever, and feel that lil glowing warmth of home in our hearts, ya know?
