Age gaps ARE bad, that’s not even an argument but people bring it into VAMPIRE fandoms??? Like this vampire is 200 years old he will have an age gap with ANY love interest that he has??? It reminds me of one tumble post that I saw where the girl said “you’re a vampire? How old are you? How looooonng have you been 17?” And the guy responds “oh I actually am 17 I turned into a vampire 4 months ago I’m still getting used to it” that’s not how vampire media works lmao
well, yes, age gaps are bad. but if you have a problem with age gaps, don’t watch vampire media?? age gaps are bad bc of grooming and power imbalances... but the specific relationship that people are selectively outraged about, there is no grooming or power imbalance, so the reasons that do make age gaps harmful aren’t even applicable to that specific situation. that being said, as you’ve pointed out, a vampire will have a significant age gap with any relationship they enter (unless they’re recently turned sdhjgdg) but like ??? that kind of defeats the purpose of vampire narratives in a lot of ways. one of the reason vampires are fascinating and cool is bc they’ve been alive for centuries and have such a rich and layered history. my point was, if you don’t like age gaps that is totally understandable. but don’t engage with vampire fiction then? bc it is a fantasy story, and there WILL be age gaps lol. vampires are predators... it isn’t meant to be some kind of fairytale.
