January has been an avalanche of new ideas. Most sucked. That is just part of trying new things. I tried a new porcelain, and it has been a disaster. Done with that. Trying some new mug shapes, and one is very promising. There have been lots of new glazes and glazing ideas. I must have 20 lbs of test tiles with “Nope” written on them. (Million dollar idea: Potters need emoji stickers for test tiles. 🤩😇😭🤮🤬. There should be an option to apply the sticker with a hammer.) 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨 Overall, I am elated with the results. There have been plenty of “That’s not right, but I get how to do it now” and enough “Yowza!” kiln openings to keep me exploring these new ideas for months. Today’s firing will be my last kiln filled with tests and experiments. It is time to put these new ideas to work!
