Hi!!! I dunno if this is the right place to ask this but are baltoy and claydol immortal?? I saw an old lady the other day walking with her baltoy and when we started chatting she said that "baltoy was already ancient when she was barely considered a lass" but I have no idea if she was just messing with me or if it's an actual thing.
truthfully, we don't really know! they're not common in captivity, and we haven't been really studying them long enough to know what their natural lifespan is, if they even have one. our best guess is that the energy powering them could potentially run out, causing them to die (similar to theories about golett), but we haven't documented any cases of it yet.
archaeologists have found nonsentient clay vessels that do seem to be the shells of baltoy and claydol, but we're not sure if they're "dead" specimens or ones that never came to life at all. there are slight differences between these and some of the other clay dolls and statues made by the ancient humans who discovered these pokemon, but we haven't yet figured out the significance of them yet.
