My Lead character for my character design class!

#class work #character design #The story was written by my professor and it was about Fernanda (who he also named) and her story is basically that she lives in a village #near the amazon rain forest and is implied to have aspects of indigenous identity but also modern connection #and so her story is about her when she was younger fell into the “sister rivers” that gave her the ability to speak with animals #and a Harpy eagle is like asking her to help fight against the people destroying the rain forest essentially #and this is a new story he wrote (there were others like a pregnant neanderthal and a lone survivor etc etc)#i tried to be very respectful with designing this and researching to my best ability #i uh... cannot say the same for my classmates unfortunately ....omg.#the blue on her skin and her ears/neck represents how she can speak with animals (i wanted her to have a visual representation for it)#I made her Afro-indigenous too #obv im having to simplify some design aspects but I think i represented her good!#my teacher said my design was very unique in both shape and design so yay!#art #this is the piece i did an all nighter for btw help

Very happy with this especially considering how it’s FUCKING charcoal. Also used a white conte and grey oil pastel. Hope it does well during critique Thursday (which is the day I made the imaginary opera performance because we had to have one in our final pieces). The assignment is a poster for La Bohème in my narrative composition and illustration class

I was a little sad because this composition doesn’t work with 1830s hairstyles and I really wanted to draw Mimi with a super cute updo (this is literally the only composition that didn’t have 1830s hairstyles) but this was the best of the 20 I did. Also… she’s dying… I’m pretty sure she has a pass.
