You ever see a take by another intersex person so so painfully steeped in appealing to perisex people that it makes you miserable
'intersexuality isnt as complex as you think it is'
I just saw this and its so. Maybe yours may not be complicated, or maybe you're in denial..
But are you a victim of IGM? How about born with ambiguous genitals? Have you been victim to various doctors reassigning your sex as an infant?
There are so many factors that change per every intersex person, and walking in and proclaiming something like that shows you really aren't connected to other intersex people in the slightest and would rather grovel at perisex boots
Sorry for ranting in here, you've also seen lots of bs and would understand the rahhhh this feels like
Okay, I think I could interpret "intersexuality isn't as complex as you think it is" in one of two ways.
The first way being like you said, clearly this person thinks intersexuality is simple and lacks nuance. Intersexuality is different for literally everyone and can cause incredibly varying experiences, and it's fucked up to say the opposite. I usually see this kind of stuff said from people whose intersexuality hasn't effected them all that much and haven't suffered any form of CIMI. These are the kinds of people who say shit like "intersex people can't have both," or "afab transfems and amab transmascs are invalid" and whatnot.
The second way I could interpret this being that maybe they just meant to say something like, "intersexuality is easier to understand if you actually tried understanding it." Like, maybe they're trying to show perisex people that if they stopped thinking of intersexuality as some mysterious third sex, that they'd actually learn a lot. But idk, this feels like a stretch. It's not the best way to go about saying this anyways.
I know my intersex experience had been complex as fuck, so I certainly don't feel connected to that phrase. I've never met anyone else whose SIG flipped when they were a teen, who had to deal with forced hormones but not with IGM despite ambiguous genitals. I've never met anyone else who used to be forced on estrogen and progesterone despite their natal estrogen levels being through the fucking roof. I've never met anyone else who swapped from taking estrogen to taking testosterone in their teens. I actually feel lucky that I got to take T as a minor because of my reassignment, meanwhile another person might feel traumatized from it. This is complex, and there's no denying it. Or at least it's complex for my mind to understand.
Thank you for the rant, actually. I'm glad to have discussed this.
