The way the Trojan war affected the next generation is so interesting. They all essentially lost their parents to the war - even the parents that were physically there with them (Penelope & Clytemnestra) were lost to them.
These characters are so criticized and viewed as flawed, sometimes there is no empathy for them by readers, when their behavior is very much the result of their parentsβ absence.
Hot take (apparently) but Clytemnestra is not that much better than Agamemnon when it come to their children. In fact, I would argue that she is worse
Elektra stronger than me because if my dad was murdered and the guy who co-killed him ended up living in my house wearing my dad's clothes pouring his libations and sleeping with my mom who betrayed me and forced me to rejoice in his death every month, kept me from any good marriage and makes fun of me, all the while my youngest brother is away for his own safety and losing my sister inch by inch because she ended up obeying them I would actually go through killing myself
