This is another one of those posts that has been sitting as an open tab in my Chrome browser for the better part of two months. It's been here so long I'm not even sure where I learned of K9 "Thrills". But, it's a release that I've been listening to on and off for the better part of two months.

The Bandcamp release page has some reviews that make some band comps: Dinosaur Jr., Lemonheads, Chronophage, Hüsker Dü, Milk Music, and Squirrel Bait are among the bands mentioned. During my many listens I would add Versus, So Cow, and R.E.M. Actually, those last three bands give you an idea of the diversity of sound you'll hear on this album. But if I had to stick with one band from the above list I'd go with Chronophage.

“Anti-Miracle” swoops into earshot on an adrenalized jangle of guitars, a thicket of sounds made up of string-scrubbing, bass-bumping, drum pounding, piano twinkling overload. The vocals, as ever, wind up from inside the sound, a gentle curve of melody amid dense pogoing cadences. Depending on what you focus on, the song is either a pop-punk banger or a graceful, fey baroque pop gesture, the Clean or Felt, contingent on where your inclinations lie.

Sais-tu, Vie, d'où l'âme est issue, Toi qui gardes tout en mémoire? Pourquoi sont coupés mes tissus En un fil perdu par mes Moires? De ces trois beautés métissées, Aucune n'entend: « Mais tissez! »

À deux mains sont tenues aiguilles, Mais seul demain les fait tourner. Dès l’aube, le pendule oscille Sans que je puisse le freiner.

Sais-tu, Temps, où il me conduit, L’étroit cours qu’avec toi je suis? Se cachent heures qui me fuient Dans les trois couches de la nuit.

Temps, ô Temps, autant de rivières Tu as que de flots, Temps avide! Mon regard vague, dans ta mer, Comme une clepsydre se vide. Ne connaître plus que l’abîme : Tel est l’aveuglement ultime.

Temps, ô Temps, au temple des morts, Tu tournes en rond, Temps abside! Comme sabliers, barque au port, L’on me retourne où tu résides. Ignorer la Source et prier : Tel est l’égarement premier.

Pourquoi, Vie, m’écouler quand coule L’encre aux traces indélébiles? Instants s’enroulent, se déroulent; Les toiles filantes défilent.

Ceux que Temps libère, il enchaîne. Ceux qu’il guérit, il blesse encore. Ah, Temps! Attends que je revienne! Dans l’envol, espoirs s’évaporent. Temps, ô Temps! Titan chronophage, Sais-tu où font tes crocs naufrage?

The weird grasshopper-like creature (lovingly nicknamed ‘Hopsie’ by the local students), is actually a ‘chronophage’ which means a ‘time-eater’. It is constantly eating away at our time. The  inscription at the bottom reads:
