I hate to say this, but â Iâm so OVER Christmas â
The whole fake of it all. The anxiety that starts to set in about 3 days after Halloween ,and continues to fester like a boil all the way up threw the first of the new year. The pressure to go out spend money that I donât have , to buy gifts that people probably donât really care about, for folks that most likely wonât buy me anything anyways.
My mailbox gets stuffed with cheesy Christmas cards, and enough advertising mailers to papier-mâchÊ a tiny replica of my hometown in one month.
I mean really ! When did â Christmas â become synonymous with extreme credit card debt , awkward phone calls from distant relatives that invite you to get togethers that never happened and end with request to barrow money . And pump you for donations for little Bobbyâs annual fundraiser for the park sponsored football team; that has never won more than 2 games in a season.
Topped with expectations to cook an ďżź enormous meal thatâs supposed to look like something out of a magazine ďżźAnd drinks, alcoholic beverages that better be fancy , something different , something new for this holiday season .youâre lucky if you get a couple people to help you clean up afterwards, the majority of people wonât even call you again until the start of the next cycle of holiday dysfunction. Iâm not trying to be a Debbie downer or a Christmas grinch, but honestly life ainât like the movies. People donât give that much of a dam . Ill just end this now before I give off the impression that I forgot to take my meds
