H.R. Giger was born on this day in 1940. The visionary artist gave us Alien, album covers for Debbie Herry and ELP, and, in a general way, the entire aesthetic of dark cyberpunk surrealism. This photo is from Giger’s collaboration with Harry and Chris Stein which resulted in an album cover (Koo Koo), music videos, and a Heavy Metal cover feature. . NYC based Giger fans should check out “HRGNYC” at Lomex Gallery, and we can all keep an eye out for the recently-announced book about the Giger-Harry-Stein collaboration that Chris Stein will be publishing through Titan Books … date TBD.
