Adrian sighs, shaking his head.
“I did tell you that you could go home.”
“How, exactly?” She retorts, “you were the one that brought us here.”
“I’m sorry,” Amy sniffles, the cold air now having started to make its presence known, “we can go home-”
“Choose your tree, Ames.”
Amy looks up at Adrian, her brows furrowing at his utterance. She opens her mouth to speak, but the words don’t surface. Sensing her hesitation, he offers her a tender smile, responding only with a gentle kiss to her temple.
“Kamilah’s decided to be a humbug today.”
“I-“
Kamilah takes a step forward in protest… but stops abruptly, the sound of quiet laughter catching her off-guard. She shakes her head in feigned disbelief, “I am NOT a humbug!”
“A Scrooge, then.”
“I’m just saying that we’ve been here a long time.”
“And like I said,” he addresses her over the top of Amy’s head, “you’re free to go.”
