Far-right Rep. Chip Roy targets Democratic Socialists of America in latest anti-immigrant bill aimed at GOPâs political opponents
Alex Woodward at The Independent:
A proposed bill from a top House Republican could be used to denaturalize U.S. citizens who âadvocateâ for socialism, including anyone who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America or any âaffiliateâ group, which includes New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and dozens of public office holders across the country. Mondayâs bill from Donald Trump ally and Republican Rep. Chip Roy, a leader in the far-right House Freedom Caucus, would radically expand the grounds for deporting, denying entry and stripping the citizenship of anyone in the country based on their real or perceived politics or ideology, echoing President Donald Trumpâs attempts to âmaximally pursueâ denaturalization cases and remove tens of thousands of people from the U.S.
Royâs bill â Measures Against Marxismâs Dangerous Adherents and Noxious Islamists, or MAMDANI Act â would amend the decades-old Immigration and Nationality Act to target any âalienâ over âany membership, affiliation or advocacy of socialist, communist, Chinese communist, Marxist or Islamic fundamentalist doctrines.â Trump and his allies have repeatedly used citizenship and immigration law as a cudgel in the presidentâs government-wide deportation project, with administration officials and Republican members of Congress routinely threatening to strip citizenship from their political opponents. The Texas Republicanâs latest escalation specifically targets Democratic Socialists of America, a political organizing group with more than 100,000 members, including Mamdani and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib.
The billâs text also broadly implicates any other group that discusses socialism, communism or Marxism, echoing largely defunct Red Scare-era laws that sought to identify and remove any perceived communists from the country.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) proposes a fascistic anti-American law called the MAMDANI Law to deport and denaturalize those who advocate for âsocialismâ, âcommunismâ, âMarxismâ, or âIslamic fundamentalism.â
This bill is yet another attack on those opposed to Satan 47âs regime.

Whoops.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before, but the SAVE act that Trump is trying to push so hard would make it nearly impossible for married women or anybody who got a legal name change for whatever reason to vote.
Republicans are now blocking an effort to allow new mothers in Congress to vote remotely shortly after giving birth.
GOP Rep. Chip Roy says, âI donât give a crap who you are or whether you just had a baby in the last six weeks.â
So. Chip Roy.
The man who once yelled at his own party, âName ONE thing weâve done with this majority,â has decided heâs qualified to run Texasâs legal department.
His rĂŠsumĂŠ?
âď¸ Former Ted Cruz sidekick (which is basically like listing âassistant chaos goblinâ on LinkedIn).
âď¸ Worked under Ken Paxton before deciding, shocker, Paxton is corrupt.
âď¸ Congressman who spent most of his time yelling at Republicans for not being Republican enough.
Heâs not exactly Team Trumpâs bestie.
( Oh no guy, But who would really want to be besties with a pedo, felon? )
Voted for the tax cuts and most of Trumpâs agenda.
BUT also called BS on the âstolen electionâ schtick.
THEN endorsed DeSantis over Trump in 2023, which is basically like picking Diet Maga and thinking nobody would notice.
Why is he running now?
Apparently, after the Hill Country floods, he had a revelation that his âtrue callingâ is serving Texans as AG. (Translation: Congress is messy, Texas politics is blood sport, and the Paxton throne is up for grabs.)
But the race is stacked, he is up against:
Joan Huffman (aka the Senate budget queen),
Mayes Middleton (deep pockets, even deeper ambition),
Aaron Reitz (Paxtonâs golden boy).
So yeah, itâs basically the Hunger Games, Texas edition.
The Irony:
Chip Roy used to be Paxtonâs first lieutenant. Now heâs running to take over the same office while Paxton cheers on someone else.
Thatâs not just political beef, thatâs Texas BBQ slow-smoked betrayal.
Summary:
Chip Roy is the Republican who:
Fought his own party,
Side-eyed Trump,
Broke up with Paxton,
And now wants to run the law shop of a state where the law is mostly used as a political weapon.
He might win. He might flame out. But either way, itâll be loud, messy, and deeply on brand for Texas.
