I don’t know if anyone’s discussed this before but I don’t think Chip is just being watched by his mother/ helping — I think he’s also staff! Chip is a Hall boy… or close to being one, depending on his age.
The easiest way to describe it is a servants servant, where he largely helps “downstairs” or staff halls/primarily the behind the scenes of a household or castle. A young boy who helps get additional work done and clean servants quarters, and a lot of the less glamorous work to be done. If he works well he could rise through the ranks — he possibly even take Cogsworth’s position in the far far future (at least in 19th/20th century houses.)
I think it’d be neat to explore anyway, sometimes it’s easy to forget just how much staff there is besides the main crew. Major Domo/Bulter , Valet, housekeeper, maître'd /First footman, lady in waiting/opera singer and Maid all just scratch the surface of running the place!

Ok I know there are debates about why (in BatB) the Enchantress would curse the entire castle staff and not just the Beast and while I like and agree with the live action saying it was because the staff enabled and did nothing to try and stop the prince from being cruel and selfish but also I recently had a theory while watching the animated film that maybe her cursing the castle staff inc Chip, who is just a child and was innocent, was the Enchantresses way of trying to get the Beast to consider how his words and actions also affect others than himself and to try and make him feel compassion and empathy for them because it is his fault they’re all cursed too which would ultimately encourage him to change and be even more motivated to break the curse and not just for selfish reasons

....I just have one question.
What the frick is Sidekick Academy?! Not only have we seen the children of sidekicks at Auradon Prep before (Doug, Jane, Jordan, the smee twins and so on) but in the books there was a whole subplot about the sidekicks not being taken seriously and fighting for their rights which Ben promised he would help with yet now they're saying the sidekick kids are totally segregated into their own school?!
Beast when I catch you....
And the existence of sidekick academy doesn't exactly make Ben and Mal look great either given that they're supposed to be all about equality.
The logline reads:
"Hidden in the center of each fairy tale is a portal to a secret training facility where the descendants of legendary sidekicks are challenged to join the elite ranks of partners to heroes. When a villainous duo comes to Sidekick Academy, a group of fresh recruits must band together — without heroes, without parents — using only their new skills to save the fairytale realm before it's too late."
... Someone just watched Sky High and wanted to remake it didn't they?
Anyway on to the characters.
As per Descendants tradition they're ignoring already established characters to focus on new ones(Jordan, Zevon, Carina and Yzla) so no surprises there.
Interestingly the article does mention some of them, though Yzla and Carina(Mrs.Potts daughter) were missed.
In addition to Kronk Jr., Jennie, and Meri, Zara is confirmed to be Yzma's daughter and Lou is Lumiere's son(I wonder if that Maid/feather duster is his mom?) while Mrs. Potts is getting three new kids(unnamed for now) which okay I can see that, Mrs. Potts does seem like the type to have a lot of kids.
I don't expect Jordan, Zevon, Yzla, or Carina to get mentioned in the movie but maybe Chip will(please Disney 🥺)?
Apparently Fairy Godmother and Chloe are going to make cameos, cool though I doubt FG will do anything significant.
Apparently the actor for one of the smee twins is going to be in the movie too but I think he's just a background dancer this time.
As I already mentioned once, sometimes when I get frightened by a loud bombing sound outside the window at night, I try to imagine my favorite character(s) of the moment comforting me. (Things have been quiet in my area lately, but there's still a lot of tension in the air, and fears of a new escalation.)
My latest (but certainly not last!) piece of Beauty and the Beast fanart, this took me maybe over 5 days to complete, and it's probably the most self-indulgent thing I have ever dared to draw in years.
Not only is it my first time drawing Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip in object form, I have tried my best to do a halfway decent Disney-style self-portrait, and I'd love your opinions on whether I did myself justice!!
