“C’mon now, darlin’, your money’s no good here, ‘specially not for somethin’ so quick n’ simple to make as that. Why don’t y’all get yourself settled in, take a seat n’ then we talk talk about it a while, huh?”

He gestured to a general direction of the diner where there were a few open booths and tables to choose from before scurrying off to the kitchen, returning in a short while with a few dishes. First to be set on the table was a grilled cheese, then a hearty bowl of tomato soup, as well as some fragrant tea. He also set a dessert menu on the table before taking a seat across from his visitor, a silent promise of things to come.

“You’re kiddin’! I’m some adorable lil’ chef—”

“Wha—!”

The birthday boy toppled over, having neither heard his chilly silly visitor’s approach, nor having expected to be tackle hugged. One glance over his shoulder later, and all traces of confusion were gone; he didn’t so much as attempt to right himself, only giggling instead.

“Well, that’s one way to get a fella’s attention, ain’t it? Hi, sugar! Day’s been all I could’ve asked for so far, n’ it’s only gettin’ better since you’re here!”

“I’m o’ the firm belief that no matter what’s been done, there’s always enough time for smoochin’ at least a lil’ bit!”

“Aww, you’re just precious, ain’tcha? If bein’ my chilly silly anon’s all it takes to getcha feelin’ flustered, I think I’ll be able to have a lot of fun with you, mmhmhmm! Course that works out fine, don’t it? After all—”,

Bemused, he reached up and brushed a hand over one of their cheeks to punctuate the sentiment.

“ 'Let it commence'? Oh, sweetheart, ya never mentioned that you’re silly!”

Grinning up at his visitor, he gleefully took his place in their arms, wrapping his own around them in kind.
