Yagi: donât worry donât worryyy, demons wonât die from something just like vomiting blood, hahahahahh (sullivan doesnât die either
Jork: WAIT WAIT THATS NOT THE PROBLEM HERE IS IT!?
Sullivan: ....Â
Allergies and Secrets
âAh-choo!â
âBless you.â
âAh-ah-choo!â
âBless you.â
âHuh-ah-ah-achoo!â
The goat demon sighed before looking up and patting the other demonâs back. âGeez, you gotta cold or something? Youâve been sneezing quite a bit lately.â
âItâs not my fault...â A hand reached out to grab a tissue before he blew into it, eyes a little watery as he sniffled. âMy allergies have been acting u-achoo!- up... I think someoneâs been murdering.â
Jork nodded, suddenly understanding his plight. Ah, murdering humans, of course. Even he could guess that much. Of all the things that Chikemuri could have been allergic to, like peanuts, or hay, or prosciutto and ham, of course it had to be the one thing that his family enjoyed... playing with. Nervously, he glanced at the stairs, half expecting the almost devil like girl to walk down and start dishing out pain. Lowering his voice to avoid that, he tried to suggest an idea to help him. âAh... did you tell your dad that... she hasnât been following the rules? I thought it was a thing, that people disposed of the human soiled clothes-â
The sniffling boy shook his head, startling his friend as he raised a hand to interrupt him. âItâs not her. At least, not this time.â
âWhat? What makes you so sure?â Jork suddenly grabbed onto his mouth before whisper-shouting. âAnd be a little quieter! We donât want... her to come down!â
He brushed off that statement, nonchalant about any potential threats walking down the stairs as he pried the hand off his mouth. âOh, sheâs not at home now, if thatâs what youâre worried about. She hasnât come back since yesterday night.â
That response made Jork tilt his head in confusion, wondering where she could have gone. There werenât exactly many places that he knew the demon would enjoy going to that didnât involve death and desecration. âReally? Where is she? The bar?â
âHer friendâs house.â
âHer friendâs house?â He shook his head at that statement, unable to see how that force of pure evil and hate would make friends in any possible way. In fact, he was willing to bet that she was a summation of the worst traits of her family, which ironically was also the best to their family. Instead, he settled on a shake of head. âSorry, dude, but when I think of your family, friendly is the third last word I think of.â
âReally? Whatâs the other two words?â
âWarm and merciful.â Now no longer concerned for his life, Jork brushed the question off before making a gesture to cut the air as he tried to get back to topic. âBut thatâs not the point! What makes you so sure? Sheâs literally evil incarnate!â
Shrugging, he crumpled the used tissue in his palm before tossing it into the bin. âCause thereâs no blood on her clothes. I canât smell any iron on them.â
At that, he scratched the fur under his chin, trying to piece the puzzle together. â...huh. Is that right...Thatâs really strange. Doesnât Hanten go hunting every other day to âdestressâ?
âShe does,â Chikemuri confirmed, before he glanced upstairs, as if uncertain if he should continue that sentence, as if the demon in question would somehow overhear them from wherever she was and march down into the living room. Then he turned back to face him, lowering his voice before continuing on. âAdmittedly, she seems loads happier these days, even without the blood on her. Hasnât been... you know, giving me a beat up.â
âReally?â
Chikemuri nodded, eyes shifting to the side as he tried to think about her. âYeah...Hmm... part of the reasonâs that sheâs not at home so much since sheâs been going over to her friendâs house a lot.â A small thought came to mind at that, and he raised his hand to his chin as he leaned down on it. Strange, for some reason, it felt like he had been sneezing a lot more often recently, especially ever since that new friend came into the picture. No murdering for her, no blood on her, so... âCome to think of it, Iâve been getting a lot more allergic reactions around her ever since she started going over more often. Guess her friend goes murdering quite a bit.â
âOh, wow. Whoâs this friend of hers?â
Chikemuri shrugged at that. âIâve never met her friend. She doesnât like to talk much about her. Heck, sheâs never mentioned her to mom and dad, Iâm the one who ends up having to tell them each time she goes over.â He sighed audibly, slumping against the table. âWish this friend didnât murder humans, but of course thatâs to much of a hope for anyone whoâs like her.â
Jork shook his head, disagreeing with him. âThen she would have gone murdering together with her. No way that sheâd give up a chance liddat to kill someone.â He sighed, wondering what could have caused any form of human to even so much as intrude the other demonâs house. âSo no blood, no meat, and sheâs been pretty tame?â
A small idea formed in his head, trying to piece together the odd puzzle that was in front of him. For a brief moment, he imagined the monster of a demon that was his friendâs sister, sitting calmly next to a very stereotypical human that had a mask just like his dad on for convenience of his imagination, both of them clearly enjoying themselves in their interactions. At that, Jork snorted and pushed the idea aside. âHuh, that would be one hell of a weird reality.â
âWhat would be?â
The red eyed demon shrugged before looking up, wondering if he should voice out the strange thought. Then again, with how much stress Chikemuri was under, he could probably use the thought to cheer up. âI mean, itâs a pretty crazy idea, but just imagine if your sisterâs friend was a human.â
Chikemuri gave him a skeptical look. What sort of crazy idea was that? It was downright impossible. Humans and Hanten, that would only lead to the deaths of the former. âWhaa- where did that thought come from?â
Jork looked down at his pen, his eyes following how it moved as he spun it. Then, after he got his line of thought together, continued on. âI mean, think about it, thatâd kinda explain how come youâre allergic to her even though she hasnât been murdering.â He took a deep breath, before grabbing a piece of paper to pen down some of the points that he had made in their conversation. âLike, we donât know who her friend is, but what we do know is that more likely than not, whatever they are, they are in close contact with Hanten, close contact with humans, and BAM!â Jork clapped his hands together, âAn allergic Chikemuri!â
Not quite seeing the link in the otherâs reasoning, he narrowed his eyes at him. âWhatâs that got anything to do with them being a human?â
His question was met with an eye roll instead. âItâs just a suggestion. Like, think about it, letâs say theyâre human. Then naturally, even if neither of them goes murdering, Hanten still gets all the allergens on her and then you go ah-choo.â
Chikemuri crosses his arms, one eyebrow raised now. âAnd how do you propose that she of all people would allow a human to be her friend?â
â...â
âExactly. Iâll sooner believe that Pitch Black World suddenly turned all bright and sunny than to believe that she would let a human in close proximity to her live.â
Jork sighed, tearing away the piece of paper he had scribbled on. âBut just imagine though,â he lamented as he tossed it into a bin. âHow crazy would it be if she was actually in a relationship with a human?â
âImpossible. Sheâd probably kill them on the spot.â
âYeah, but just think-â
âNah, thereâs no way that would ever happen.â
âDude, you just have no imagination.â
âYouâre the one with the wacky ideas.â
âIsnât that why Iâm your friend? So that you can ground my ideas down?â
âWhy you-â Chikemuri snorted, a small grin appearing on his face before pushing against his friendâs shoulder, leading to a playful pushing battle between the two demons over the nonsensical theory on his allergies.
If only they knew how close they were to the truth.
