I feel like in some shows/movies/books etc, there are characters that need to physically be in the shadows at all times because it's part of their character rather than their arc. What always makes me confused is when a character like that becomes part of the team or you learn more about them or something and then they get put in normal lighting but they act like they have been. It really throws me off, like NO. the only way this character should be acting in normal lighting is ridiculously vulnerable, fatally wounded, or in the midst of a breakdown.
