I really hate it how normalized it is for non Spanish speakers to deliberately say Spanish words incorrectly because they think it's funny.
It's not funny to me, it's insulting a part of my culture. It's no different than when people infuriatingly say made up words meant to be passed off as "Chinese" or when people mock AAVE.
It's kay-sa-dee-ya, not kway-sa-dill-a for quesadilla
It's tor-tee-ya, not tort-ill-a for tortilla
It's grah-see-us not grassy-ass for gracias
Etc. Etc.
If you're not going to pay respects to a language, not going to do the research on how to pronounce the words just because it's funny to you, then please don't speak it at all.
You're not funny. You'll never be funny. You're only just being racist and rude.
