This is part of the book collection, Mt. Lingmeng Gossip. It is a passage from the third volume, which has haunted me for the past year or so.
This volume speaks of the old goddess of Chenyu Vale, and it claims she now slumbers, leaning on a destroyed lunar chariot.
She once ruled over the birds, beasts, and adepti that reside in the mountains. She acted as an arbiter, and kept the balance between mortals and animals.
(If you have the time, please go read the volume in full. It can be purchased at bookstore in Liyue Harbor, and I believe it will be relevant again before the end of Nod Krai.)
It is my belief, that this is the master that The Herblord and Fujin served during the archon war. The one they ended up turning against, to save the people of Chenyu Vale.
Her connections to a lunar chariot, have not been brought up again in game. I suspect we will learn more, by the time the summer event comes around, if not during the summer event itself.
On the off chance that this was forgotten by the story writers, then I hope to see it brought up again at some point next year! (Hopefully alongside a Changsheng related event!)

So are we never going to discuss the implications behind Changsheng’s abilities? Even in her weakened state, using a human to sustain herself, she held the ability to REVERSE the process of death. How were these actions allowed? It is implied in Baizhu’s story quest that the people in the first contract bearer’s village fell ill and died over a good chunk of time. Which means it would be more than just bringing someone back from the brink of death.
And don’t get me started on Changsheng’s mysterious LUNAR CHARIOT RELATED former master.
What makes Changsheng’s meddlings with life, death, and fate, excusable? When so many powerful individuals across Teyvat dare not even to extend their own life spans. When fate is spoken of as something unyielding by so many characters?
She is a character implied to be quite old, and yet we still know so little about her history.
I wonder if the unnamed god of Chenyu Vale was also a moon envoy? It stated that there were others, and would explain why the she is said to be leaning on the lunar chariot in her death like state. I was hoping to get more info about her through Zibai, as the unnamed god would have been around at the same time as one of the three deadly selves was serving Morax. Guess I’ll have to wait even longer to further my Chenyu Vale demon lord = moon connection theory!
Perhaps Zibai will have more info to share in her voice lines.
