I just have to appreciate that this couple is just absolutely honest. I love that although they were quite naive and yet very honest, unlike most drama couples that often hide that they are inexperienced or just fail miserably instead Ke Lei and Mi Ka are just honest that they are both new at love and that they are still adjusting.

I love that when Ke Lei does something for her and fails he’ll just admit his mistake which just makes him absolutely adorable and sweet. Perfect boyfriend material.

And when they finally confessed to each other, Ke Lei was really straightforward and faced it head-on, unlike most dramas with all the fluttering words that sometimes comes off as cringey, Ke Lei just straight out said the three words and just went for the can you be my girlfriend question without a second late and when he asked for her cooperation, I just can’t! that entire scene from the moment he woke up got me laughing my a** off. One of my favorite confessions in dramas, just straightforward, direct, and precise with just a touch adorable and plentiful of sweetness. 

I love that the relationship between Mi Ka and Xing Ke Lei has always been pure and healthy from start to finish. I love that the drama showcased a really normal relationship that is not always rainbows and butterflies. 

There will be times that their patients will be tested, their tempers may rise and personalities will be different but communication, understanding, trust, and love will always keep them together. Ke Lei and Mi Ka have two different lives and both are hard-working and passionate about their professions that are also very demanding, stressful, and oftentimes dangerous.

I love that the main struggle in their relationship wasn't a love triangle or unreasonable future in-laws but the biggest and most of the time factor of their misunderstandings (it wasn't exactly fights) was that their jobs that often gets in their way. In most dramas, we see main leads that are often stuck together like glue but Ke Lei and Mi Ka are most of the time interrupted during their dates and their jobs are always their first priorities. 

They know the consequences if they make a mistake while on the job and they also really respect and appreciate each other's professions, they know their duties and responsibilities so even though it might hurt they are very understanding of each other. 

And I really liked that when got together they stayed together, there were no breakups. Yes they did have their moments and their relationship wasn't that smooth but they give each space when necessary. 

CHARACTERS

Dr. Mi Ka

Mi Ka is a resident in Renxin Hospital on the Neurology Dept. She is bright, smart, kind, the girl-new-door kind. She sympathizes well with her patients and is loved by everyone in the hospital. She is an only child and has two best friends Yan Shan and Chen Tao who are also residents in Renxin. Mi Ka was one of the victims during a hostage situation when she just graduated and was rescued by SWAT. 

Capt. Xing Ke Lei

Ke Lei is a young SWAT Captain that was tasked with training the residents from Renxin Hospital. He is strict and competitive but with a kind heart. He is playful but very protective with his team members and look after them as much as he can. His family owns a business that his older sister Ke Yao manages. 

Shu Wen Bo

Wen Bo is Ke Lei’s naive, not dumb but close-to-being-one right hand man. He is as simple as any man can be. He is quite insensitive in anything that is not part of his job. He is protective of his “brothers” on the team but more so on his captain. 

Ruan Qing Xia

Qing Xia is a well known journalist and Mi Ka’s childhood friend. She is adventurous and playful and confident. When she wants something, she will persevere in getting it and she just set her eyes on the naive Wen Bo. 

Dr. Shao Yu Han 

Dr. Shao is a famous Neurosurgeon who just transferred to RenXin Hospital. He is intelligent and sympathetic to his patients. He is kind and very open minded but when it comes to his job, he is very serious and a workaholic.

Xing Ke Yao

Ke Yao is Xing Ke Lei’s older sister and Dr. Shao’s former girlfriend. 

 CAST AND PRODUCTION

And I’m pretty sure that everyone agrees with me if I say that Bai Jing Ting is slaying it on his uniform and even on casual clothes. This man is perfect! Why does the world seem so unfair right now? Lol and I’m not even gonna talk about the chemistry between Sandra Ma and Bai Jing Ting. I really loved the confident and strong Sandra Ma on Oh My General but I also absolutely love the messy yet lovable and kind Mi Ka. 

FINAL THOUGHTS

Rating: 9/10

Definitely one of my favorite dramas of 2021. It was sweet, it had enough comedic elements and drama with just a touch of action but drowning with fluffy cute romance. This drama also has one of my favorite as well as most inspiring couple relationship in Cdrama land(currently). Definition of a healthy relationship? A couple that respect each other’s profession and decisions, loving them despite their flaws, understanding their different lifestyles, trusting each other and loving each other the way they deserved to be loved. 

Do I recommend this drama? YES! Although pacing could have been better but the chemistry and love story definitely makes up for it. A healthy main, second, and third couple relationships and good character growth. 

About the Drama

Synopsis: 

As a new resident at the bustling metropolitan hospital, Mi Ka’s life is far from boring. With a steady stream of patients to see and a variety of training exercises to complete, Mi Ka has little time for anything other than work, but she doesn’t mind. The chance to help people and save lives is all she has ever wanted and she’s happy she has finally found a way to make that dream come true. Ever one to volunteer when a new opportunity to help others arises, Mi Ka joins in a joint emergency rescue training exercise between the hospital and the police SWAT team, a decision that will change her life forever. 

When a deadly earthquake shakes the very foundations of the world, Mi Ka is part of the team ordered to the epicenter of the quake to help with rescue operations. Joined by a team of military personnel, including Xing Ke Lei, a special ops agent who first met Mi Ka through a series of misunderstandings that left them both with a less-than-favorable impression of each other, Mi Ka and her medical team set out on a mission fraught with danger. Despite their initial misgivings, Xing Ke Lei and Mi Ka have no choice but to put aside their differences to help those hit hardest by the recent earthquake. Working side-by-side, their feelings towards each other gradually begin to soften as they observe how tirelessly each works to save lives.

When the nation in which they’re working is thrown into turmoil, Mi Ka and the rest of the medical team find themselves in very real danger. Putting his life on the line, Xing Ke Lei is determined to come to their rescue, but will he be able to get to them in time?
