Glass Hearts | Gale & Ezra | Closed
It was easier than it should have been to get to her doorstep, the hard part was walking past the doorframe. His Colony would have cut out his heart had they ever heard of what caused him to move here today, but he couldnât take it anymore. He kept hearing the ghost of her heels in the halls, looking for her face in the crowds. Eventually, he started to seek her out, something the halfbreed didnât do often. Ezra went to the Dominion, asked around the guards, listened for whispers of her. Nothing. He had worked himself up into a paranoid fit about what could have happened to her, so he left, hitched a ride off some foolish master and abandoned him to come here.
Dread consumed his chest at what might be beyond the door, what horrors he envisioned. It wasnât locked, he walked carefully inside, standing in the center of her living room till he heard the soft padding of footsteps draw near. âI should have knocked, I know,â he began as he turned around. âI tried stopping by the Dominion, you werenât there. I thought you might be home.â Quiet relief soothed his nerves, âIâm glad you are.â
