They said they’d come to help.
A magical family. Had come to help.
Ben had grown to know magic wasn’t real, after praying for a miracle, from whatever god would listen. Praying to not be pressured on his grades. Praying to not go to the camp. Praying that his flight would be cancelled last minute. Praying that Darius would be able to pull him back into the train car. Praying that he’d find his friends sooner than he had. With so many prayers gone unanswered, he’d stopped believing in a god or any form of magic.
Their arrival was a shock to most of the group. Ben didn’t care. His friends could leave, be safe. He didn’t need to leave. He found himself here, and if they were gone he wouldn’t have to worry about them. Wouldn’t have to put their safety in the front of his mind.
He crossed his arms when he heard footsteps coming his way, starting to walk away. Bumpy was right there. All he’d need to do was get on her back and run. Get her to run.
“I don’t need your help, I’m fine here.”
He said, walking over to the Ankylosaurus and putting his hand on her head. Petting her gently.
“Just help my friends and leave me alone.”

Mariano had promised himself that he’d make an effort to get to know the whole Madrigal family, which, unfortunately for him, also included Bruno. He’d not spoken to the man much during the rebuilding of their house, only getting glimpses of him as they worked, but today was the day.
The day he’d approach Bruno, from behind, tapping his shoulder.
