Running with Heart
The start line was a sea of red.
Runners of all ages stretched, chatted, and pinned crimson race numbers to their shirts as the annual charity fun run prepared to begin.
Among them stood Brock Gold #46 and several fellow Golden Bros, their gleaming gold kits accented with red wristbands to match the day's theme.
"This isn't about finishing first," Brock reminded his teammates.
"It's about showing up."
When the starting horn sounded, everyone moved forward together.
Some sprinted.
Some jogged.
Others simply walked, cheering each other along the course.
The Golden Bros spent as much time encouraging other runners as they did chasing the finish line. They high-fived children, applauded first-time participants, and helped hand out water near the final kilometer.
By the time Brock crossed the finish line, he wasn't thinking about his time.
He was thinking about the smiles.
The volunteers.
The families.
The friends they'd made along the route.
Red wasn't just the color of the race.
It was the color of courage, kindness, and the heart every person had shared that day.
Sometimes the greatest victory isn't winning.
It's helping everyone cross the finish line together.
