Rapunzel exhaled noisily. Can’t have been too busy? She was busy all the time! She made a point of it! Some people might call her high strung, but in reality, she didn’t want to slow down, because if she slowed down, she might start to think, and if she thought, well... let’s just say she didn’t want to think.
And here he came, not a care in the world. Probably got by on his looks, primarily. She might have spent a good chunk of her life not in the company of her family or their social class, but she’d quickly picked up on ways to identify a rich person, even at their most casual. He wore high-quality clothes. He kept buying things for the center (she wondered how big of a tax break he was going to get for all of this). And he kept flashing that stupid smile of his, like it was solve all his problems. Problems which he didn’t have. Not like the kids they were building the center for.
“Wow, you just don’t get sarcasm, do you?” she asked. “That’s okay, I’m sure you can afford a sarcasm detector.” She slapped on her Customer Service smile and used her Customer Service voice while she was at it, perky and sweet and a little over the top. She rarely used it. “What can I help you with?”
