The Athena-Chariklo relationship is interesting to me because while Athena and Artemis definitely don't exclusively get along with maidens, one would expect that a parthenos like Athena would have as her dearest and closest companion (the one she takes with her everywhere and bathes with) a fellow maiden, which Chariklo is not. Artemis and Atalanta might come closest to this since they seem to remain close and on good terms even after the latter bears a child, but Athena and Chariklo still stand out in how affectionate and intimate their bond is described as being in Kallimachos' Hymn 5: ā... Athena loved one nymph above allĀ Ā the others, the mother of Teiresias, and they wereānever apart. When Athena would drive her horses off to ancient Thespiai [ā¦]āor to Haliartos, crossing the tilled fields of the Boeotiansāor to Koroneia, where her fragrantĀ āgrove and altars stood on the banks of the Kouralios riverāthe goddess would often place herāon her chariot. The whisperings of the nymphs and ordering of their dances were never sweet whenāChariklo was not leading them.ā

So Kallimachos did not invent the friendship between Athena and Chariklo.
āPherecydes says that he [Teiresias] was blinded by Athena. For Chariclo was dear (ĻĻĪæĻĻιλįæ) to Athena (ā¦) and he saw her naked, and so she covered his eyes with her hands and made him blind. But when Chariclo wanted him to recover his sight again, she was unable to do this, but by cleaning his ears she made him able to understand every sound of the birds; And she gave him a scepter of cornel-wood, and when he carried it, he walked in the same manner as those who see.ā (FGrH 3 f 92a)
4: Chariklo and How Sci-FiĀ Envisions āThings to Comeā.
He considered all religions as equal and pointed to the fact that they all contain the same core truth. This is one of the major themes ofĀ Stranger in a Strange LandĀ where characters regularly say āThou art Godā and feel each othersā souls.Ā Many look to aspects between Mercury and Uranus to suggest the native is a Science Fiction Writer (his Mercury is in Leo and Uranus in Capricorn) ā theĀ AquariansĀ are an obvious choice- or just a well placed Mercury in Gemini or Virgo, or Uranus in a water sign. He has none of these obvious signatures, but that intense opposition he has between Mars/Uranus to Sun/Neptune may be enough to suggest rapid self development to higher states of mind or elevated sense of purpose.Ā
But this is where asteroid Chariklo has something to offer. Her name means āgraceful spinnerā. She was the wife of Chiron in mythology possibly herself a centaur but also named as a nymph. She was the daughter of Apollo and Oceanus. Asteroid Chariklo orbits between Saturn and Uranus and radiates the clear light of being. She is a healing presence, and so quite mystical. Wherever she appears in the chart would be indicative ofĀ visions, or near-indefinable spiritual qualities such as a healing presence. Heinlein himself had asteroid Chariklo in Pisces at 20° and Chariklo activates the objective āgroundā of being in an already very spiritual sign.
However, Chariklo is not limited to being a radiant presence. Zane Stein and others have linked her to Science Fiction writers as one of her associations is the āenvisioning of things to comeā, something it behooves us all to do. Ā In Heinleinās chart Chariklo is 7° from Saturn, which is a wide orb, so we can only claim they are āco-presentā in the sign,Ā but Chariklo is sesquidratrate to Mercury, trine to Jupiter and square to Pluto which establishes her as a strong influence in the chart.Ā
Other examples of Chariklo in the charts ofĀ Sci-Fi writersĀ are:
Arthur C. Clarke hadĀ CharikloĀ trine/sextile his North and South Nodes;
Ray Bradbury had Chariklo directly opposite Mars;
Philip K. Dick has Chariklo conjunct Mars, square Uranus and sextile Jupiter.Ā
Ursula le Guin had Chariklo trine to Mars and square to both Uranus and Mercury.
J. G. Ballard had Chariklo conjunct his Juptier and Pluto;
Samuel R. Delaney has Chariklo conjunct the Moon and sextile to both Pluto and Chiron.
Gene Rodenberry, creator of Star Trek, has a prominent Chariklo square to his Sun.
Even L. Ron Hubbard has Chariklo conjunct his Mars/Uranus in Capricorn.
Knowing all thisĀ in the charts of these writers should give us a new appreciation of the meaning of Chariklo and why we should never underestimate the wife of Chiron as she shares his gift of prophecy by being able to see into the future i.e. she is a sci-fi visionary.Ā Ā

Agatha Christie Gets the Rewrite Treatment to Spare Modern Sensitivities
Even the bestselling novelist in the world isnāt being spared woke rewrite treatments to spare the delicate sensitivities of modern readers, with Agatha Christieās works getting the full treatment from her publisher.
Mercury (reason, speaking, writing) sextile Chariklo (interrogative about touchy or delicate issues, intolerant) opposite Makemake (books, especially those of multi-cultural interest (Agatha Christie books have become the latest to be edited by sensitivity readers)).
Christie is famous for creating such timeless sleuths as Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and theĀ Daily Telegraph reports new editions based on both these investigators have had original passages amended or excised by publisher Harper Collins.
Insults and references to ethnicity feature amongst the references to have received the editorial reworking.
So-called āsensitivity readersā had made the edits, which were evident in digital versions of the new editions, including the entire Miss Marple run and selected Poirot novels set to be released or that have been released since 2020,Ā the Telegraph reported.
The updates follow edits made to books by Roald Dahl and Ian Fleming to remove offensive references to gender and race in a bid toĀ āprotectā modern readers, as Breitbart News reported.
The newspaper reported the edits cut references to ethnicity, such as describing a character as black, Jewish or gypsy or a female characterās torso as āof black marbleā and a judgeās āIndian temperā, and remove terms such as āOrientalā and the N-word.
The word ānativesā has also been replaced with the word ālocalā.
Among the examples of changes cited by the Telegraph is the 1937 Poirot novel Death on the Nile, in which the character of Mrs Allerton complains a group of children are pestering her, saying that āthey come back and stare, and stare, and their eyes are simply disgusting, and so are their noses, and I donāt believe I really like childrenā.
This has reportedly been stripped down in a new edition to state: āThey come back and stare, and stare. And I donāt believe I really like children.ā
The new edition of the 1964 Miss Marple novel A Caribbean Mystery, the amateur detectiveās musing that a hotel worker smiling at her has āsuch lovely white teethā has been removed, the newspaper added.
Guinness World Records lists Christie as the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her books having sold more than two billion copies.
As well as writing top selling novels, Christie also created the worldās longest-running play, the murder mystery The Mousetrap, which has been performed in the West End since 1952.
