I am actually happy to see Vector's leadership go in the latest episode. I feel like Vector's leadership is one of his underrated skills because he doesn't just lead the Chaotix but everyone else and knows how to formulate a plan and battle strategy than any of them.
I heard that Ian Flynn think that Vector fits as the general or leader of the resistance more than Knuckles and Amy during Forces and actually agree on that. Knuckles is inexperience and more like general training them than leading a war (given how Knuckles has lack of social skills) especially when he led more than half the soldiers get wiped out from his command while Amy may have leadership skill even social skills, she couldn't handle the pressure of entire organization especially the events of the Metal Virus. Even Jewel suffers in that leadership department as while she did well on the paperwork and the organization than Amy, she still inexperience when it comes organizing a plan against Eggman and she did kinda ended up trusting Clutch that led to the HQ destruction.
Seeing how Vector led after the events of the Metal when Eggman appear in Spiral Hill, Vector really does handle being leader as he gave commands to everyone even the people that he rarely interact like Whisper and Tangle. It does help that Vector is an adult and can handle much pressure compare to Amy as we remembered that Vector's worst pressure happened during the Metal virus when Charmy got infected and he does deal with the hard decisions like trapping the infected victim surrounded by the car.
Answering early because it's relevant to the moment (light spoilers for the chaotix casefiles episode 7 but I'll try not to reveal much)
I never understood why Knuckles was designated the general. Like. I know he's a warrior, but he doesn't have the skills for leadership and IT SHOWS. OPERATION BIG WAVE. 80% OF THE TROOPS DIED.
Yeah, it does help that Vector is older than most of the cast (I guess they no longer have ages but he's still clearly written to be older and more experienced). And I'm so glad that the chaotix casefiles exists because it's shutting down stupid stuff like "Oh but Espio is the smarter so he should be the leader." NO. Vector is the leader for a reason, and he's the best there is at the job.
I mean he was shackled the whole time and still it was thanks to him anything got done because everyone was too surprised by the culprit's appearance to react in time. He's quick om his feet, keeps a cold head im high stress situations and is able to make the harsh but necessary decisions nobody else will.
God I love Vector so much.
