TS2 Aspiration Archetypes
Romance | Knowledge | Fortune | Family | Popularity | Pleasure | Grilled Cheese
As a Sims 2 player, I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of repetitive storylines and play styles. So, I've put together this list of aspiration combinations and potential character archetypes that can spring from them. You can choose from them as you like or use dice rollers to incorporate them randomly. I personally like to roll a random die when selecting my sims' primary aspiration, and then personally select a secondary that suits their general personality and demeanor.
Romance Archetypes
Romance + Family
1. Hopeless Romantic: This sim believes every partner is "the one". They're too quick to jump into relationships (and marriage/family) as a result. They tend to get swept up in the passion of it all and end up cheating on their current partners.
2. Wandering Eye: This sim strongly wants a happy marriage and family, but will gladly entertain an affair so long as nobody else finds out. What they don't know won't hurt them.
3. Rolling Stone: This sim thinks the highest form of connection two sims can have is sharing a child. Anyone they're in love with, they'd like to have a child with. And if it doesn't work out? Onto the next.
4. One Big Happy Family: This sim is polyamorous and would like to live in a home with all their partners and however many children are born from the polycule.
5. Serial Monogamist: They just love love. While in a relationship, they are faithful until they find the next person who catches their eye. They end the current relationship and move onto the next ad nauseam.
6. Waiting on a Ring: This sim believes some things are worth waiting for. They will only woohoo with a sim they are married to.
7. Bubeleh: This sim doesn't need everyone's attention, they only need the love of their partner. This sim is a romantic who can only be satisfied by their partner. All romantic desires are directed toward their person. No one else will do.
8. Fairytale Fanatic: This sim interpreted all those fairytales as gospel. They believe they'll know the person is right for them when they get all the grand gestures, romantic excursions, and firework quality chemistry that they've seen depicted in storybooks and films. Of course, they're also prone to performing those grand gestures themselves.
9. Lover: This sim wants to marry for love and won't settle for less. They also feel very strongly that their children shouldn't, either. They want more than anything a happily ever after for themselves and every single one of their children.
Romance + Knowledge
1. Hot for Teacher: This sim has a thing for educators. They'd date their college professor, their tutor, and anybody in the education field.
2. Muse: This sim is most attracted to those who are experts in their fields (the arts, especially). They like the idea of being a genius's inspiration.
3. Sexologist: This sim finds romantic relationships, attraction, and sexuality fascinating. They explore relationships as field studies and exercises in "chemistry".
4. Sapiosexual: This sim is only attracted to sims that stimulate or challenge them intellectually.
5. Tortured Genius: Rather than being the muse, this sim sees themself as the savant. And every savant needs a string of muse-like admirers, of course.
6. Chaser: This sim loves the occult so much that it's their personal goal to woohoo every kind of occult sim. Aliens, witches, vampires, werewolves, plantsims, servos -- even (perhaps especially) the elusive Bigfoot. The freakier, the better. 7. School Sweetheart: This sim romanticizes the idea of ending up with their first love -- the sim they met in school. They will do everything they can to end up with that person.
8. Cynic: What other sims call "love" is really just a bunch of biochemical incentives designed to fulfil a biological imperative. This sim has no illusions about "love" and "romance". They date and woohoo for a release of pleasant chemicals, and anyone who claims otherwise is just fooling themselves.
Romance + Fortune
1. Power Player: This sim aspires to have it all, and to them, "it all" is a lot of money and a lot of sexual partners.
2. Gold Digger: This sim thinks the only size that really matters is their partner's wallet. They're seeking to bag the sim with the biggest bag that they can get.
3. HR Nightmare: This sim sees their workplace as their own personal dating pool.
4. Paid Partner: This sim expects to be spoiled rotten by their romantic partners. They expect gifts, expensive vacations, and meals at the nicest restaurants in town. They are a luxury few can afford.
5. Sugar Parent: This sim wants the hottest young sim on their arm at any cost. No really, what's the price? They'll pay it.
6. Passport Paramore: This sim is disillusioned by the riffraff in their typical environment. They'd rather travel abroad and meet someone more interesting, more "exotic" with whom to share their time. Sure, traveling this frequently is expensive, but can you really put a price on love? 7. Project Manager: Who doesn't love a rags to riches story? This sim is actively seeking someone much poorer than them to engage in a romantic relationship with. Sure, the ethics are pretty fuzzy of trying to mold someone with less resources into the person you want them to be, but every relationship has its quirks.
8. Power Partner: This sim is looking for the other half of their power couple puzzle. They're gainfully employed, responsible, and put together all on their own, but they just can't see a future without a partner just as accomplished by their side. They seek a partner to build an empire with, just so long as they meet their rigorous standards.
Romance + Pleasure
1. Commitmentphobe: This sim is terrified of being tied down to any one person. They are not seeking a relationship of any kind, just a good time. Repeat dates are fine, but the minute the "what are we?" question arises, they bolt.
2. Hedonistic Hero: This sim loves having fun and woohooing is a LOT of fun. They're seeking to sleep with as many sims as they possibly can, whenever they can.
3. One Night Only: This sim is only interested in one night stands. Variety is the spice of life!
4. Exhibitionist: This sim REALLY likes to woohoo in public. It's a must have for their every intimate relationship.
5. Risky Woohooer: This sim loves to give love, but hates the feel of protection. Every woohoo is a "try for baby" woohoo.
6. Pickup Artist: This silver tongued sim believes they're only ever a few words away from spending the night with anyone they want. To test this theory, they try to take someone home every time they go out.
7. Hobosexual: Listen, housing is expensive and woohooing is free. This sim ensures they have a comfortable place to live by wooing other sims into relationships. They're not so much into the other person as they are into having a place to crash for a while. But hey, you can't beat woohooing and free rent.
8. Trophy Partner: Some sims love the thrill of the chase; this sim loves being chased. It's hard work looking as good as they do, and they love nothing more than being appreciated for that hard work. Trophy Partners love being wooed, wined, and dined. Whether or not they commit to any one person doesn't matter half as much to them as the fact that they're being lusted after and put on a pedestal. It's where trophies belong, after all.
Romance + Popularity
1. Romantic Ideal: This sim isn't satisfied with simply woohooing and dating, they want to be the very best any sim has ever had. They want every date to be a dream date, every woohoo to be the very best, and every relationship they enter to be of the highest quality.
2. Changeling: This sim is willing to change anything about themselves to be the most compatible with whomever they're dating. Job, hair color, makeup, clothing, friendship, even supernatural state -- they're willing to be whatever their partner wants.
3. Matchmaker: This sim is so adept at love and romance themselves that they seek to pair up all their friends and loved ones with their perfect matches. They throw a lot of parties and group outings to get singles in their network together.
4. Casanova: This sim is so good at romancing, it would be rude to restrain it to just one relationship. Their goal is to maintain as many loving relationships as they can at once. It only counts as cheating if they're caught!
5. Polyamorous: This sim has a lot of love to give. Their happily ever after isn't with "the one", it's with many! They'd like to have more than one romantic partner simultaneously to be truly happy.
6. Starfucker: This sim is easily enamored by celebrity. They'd love more than anything to be a famous person's date to an event or even just someone they wake up to after a wild night. 7. Superficial: This sim cares deeply about appearances and social perceptions. When it comes to love and romance, sure, they'll date the person they have undeniable chemistry with, but they'll only marry a sim who completes the picture perfectly. The ideal marriage candidate is in the right income bracket, has a good job, comes from a good family, and won't make waves. Passion thrives in private. Social capital, like diamonds, is forever.
8. Serial Cheater: Commitment scares a lot of folks, but this sim has no problem making commitments at all. It's nice to have a partner around, after all. It's the keeping that commitment part that's hard. Serial cheaters are unfaithful in absolutely all of their relationships, because no matter how much they love their partner, the thrill of doing what they shouldn't is just too good to pass up.
