Pidge's no good very bad day.
so, I've had this story idea for pidge for a while so I'm going to write it out, getting her voice sorted and giving her some lovely delicious trauma to pull from
cw: this is going to be a pretty rough time, death mention, relatively minor blood, and lots of related trauma, nothing hardcore graphic but you are warned it's not going to be fun for Pidge.
Pidge casually wandered the neon alleys of this Seoul, another universe, another delivery. She actually quite enjoys interacting with the various versions of the hunters so hearing that her next delivery was to yet another version of them had excited her. Though... even she has to admit, the odd quiet of this Seoul at this time of night was, well, it was unnerving. usually she would hum at times like this and catch faint glimpses of the hunter's honmoon, it's blue glow in the corner of her eye usually bringing some comfort, she may not be attuned to it, so it was mostly useless to her, just a trick of the eye when she would hum a hymn for it, but the darkness and even occasional pink glow at the corner of her eye when she had tried... it only made her anxieties worse. She still recalled the gravel under her fingernails as she clawed at the ground trying to get away from that Demon before that Miyeong had stepped in... She shook her head focusing her eyes forward, the flash of familiar purple darting across the alley brought a smile to her face, finally, someone familiar- that thought was stopped in its tracks as she saw the look in the familiar woman's eyes, blazing gold, feral, and hunting. That look sent Pidge running in the opposite direction, desperate, afraid, it slowly dawning on her why the lack of honmoon had her so on edge. Pidge reached for her address book, her one way out- this thought too was cut short by this more feral Rumi digging her claws into Pidge's back sending her into the ground, as the patterned woman landed over her crouched on all 4's eyeing her like caught prey she was toying with. Pidge's breath was ragged but quick as she lay there face down looking up at such a familiar face, usually so friendly now staring down at her with malice and pleasure at Pidge's pain. Pidge, for her part, could only stare at her address book, having lost her grip on it as she was attacked, it now sitting on the ground just past Rumi. Just as Rumi seemed about to finish her, with little Pidge could do, two dark figures appeared calling Rumi off like a dog. caring hands caressing her.
"Mira? Zoey? what the hell is wrong with Rumi?!" Pidge all but shouted barely dragging herself up, right, different dimension. delivery, the thoughts brought her back as she tried to stand in her customer service pose with a smile, "sorry, different version, I'm Pidge. I work for multiversal-" the thought halted as she noticed the patterns, not Rumi's, those were expected. The ones now adorning the lithe form of Mira and the Ravenette adorning a smile that read as almost taking sadistic joy in Pidge's struggle to stand as she gently scratched under Rumi's chin, the pieces slowly clicking into place in her head. I'm going to die "It doesn't really matter who you are," Mira had started allowing Zoey to finish in a sickly sweet tone, "If our sweet queen Rumi sees you as prey, then she'll have you, we didn't eliminate Gwi-ma and the hunters for us to give her anything less than everything.", her wicked grin seemed to only somehow grow. Pidge's stomach churned at the words, beginning to back away, only to trip as a shin-kal, pink, and sharp, and wrong flew past where her head would have been. she began skittering backwards desperately, looking for anything to help her escape, she needs her address book. Mira had left her partners sides now and leapt over Pidge's prone form now blocking her from backing down the alley away, Zoey now perched with her knives ready meant climbing was out of the question, Pidge was fast but she couldn't out run a knife- then it finally hit her. they were giving her an arena. a place for this Rumi to play with her before she kills her I wonder what would happen if I ever lost my soul in one of these worlds
What had been a casual wondering had now become a terrifyingly real threat. Rumi leapt as Pidge dragged herself up to a bear crawl through the searing pain, diving to the wall only narrowly dodging Rumi's claws. The guttural roar that left Rumi only made Pidge's heart and mind race faster, finally her hand landed on something solid as Rumi again leapt. crack The rock in Pidge's hand was warm and wet. Rocks aren't supposed to be warm and wet. the cry that ripped out of Rumi as she staggered backwards and clutched her head chilled Pidge's bones, Zoey and Mira had rushed to look her over and help Rumi. Now was Pidge's chance. She should take it. She should move. Why is she shaking? Finally auto pilot took over and Pidge sprinted, diving for her address book as a shin-kal drove itself into her hip. clutching the book close to her chest through the all encompassing pain that was beginning to overwhelm her, she willed her eyes open to find- her dorm. she was back. the new rock in her hand and wounds covering her body the only signs she'd ever left. Pidge dragged herself to her feet placing her address book on her bed, her mind empty as she wandered to her shelf placing the rock down on it like any other trinket she'd pick up from her adventures, dutifully ignoring the liquid dripping off it. slowly, steadily, she patched each wound, the claw marks on her back would scar deeply, and the amount anti-biotics she had to take was insane to her, but medic's orders. the shin-kal would oddly leave the smallest mark, though her torn short sleeve dress shirt and now ripped cargo pants might disagree. Finally, she returned to her bed, staring at her address book, her one way in and out of any universe, placing a red mark next to that universe. She then reached in her messenger bag, pulling out the package, the package with 'To: Celine' scrawled on it, placing it gently to the side. She wondered if she'd be ordered to return to that universe to confirm the recipient's death before she'd be allowed to abandon this delivery, she really did not want to. She dragged herself into the bed, placing her address book in her messenger bag, clutching it to her chest, before beginning to shake violently and letting out a piercing cry as tears began to fall, she screamed, she cursed, because she could do nothing else. She's a courier for Multiversal Shipping. She'll wake up tomorrow like every other courier, she'll have breakfast in the mess hall, she'll smile and talk to other couriers about their deliveries, then she'll grab her messenger bag. On to Pidge's next delivery.
