so the 2025 anpanman movie was finaly anounced! rigth on Yanase birthday too! (thats why it took long) theres a lot of stuff to unpack so i wil start showing the movie's poster

a beutiful poster in the style of Yanase's postcards that he used to draw for the movies, it was made by his agency but who exactly drew it remains unknow and that kinda bothers me

but anyways! the movie is caled "chapon's hero" and its theme is "purpose/you choose the reason of your birth"

the synopsis goes as it follows (translated via deepl w some changes)

"While on patrol as usual, Anpanman meets a mysterious boy named Chapon who fell from the sky.

Chapon does not know where he came from, but as he spends time with Anpanman and his friends, he learns the joy of helping others and making them smile. and he comes to look up to Anpanman as if he were his older brother.

However, he learns the shocking truth when he is visited by the mysterious baikinman, who knows the secret of Chapon's birth.

Anpanman gently wraps Chapon in a rain of tears.

"you decide for yourself what the meaning of yourbirth is!"

Chapon, together with Anpanman, stands up to Baikinman in order to bring smiles to everyone's faces"

so, the movie's premesse reminds me of the 2005 movie which is a fine movie, but this seems like a better ver of it, not only bc chapon wont be a brat (i hope so) but also bc his relationship with anpanman wil be deeper, with chapon seeing him as an older brother, which rly warms my heart especialy bc anpanman is a bit of an older brother f/o for me... the theme of "purpose" was already used in 'star spirited dolie" and "shine! kulun and the stars of life" and it does feel like an spiritual succesor to them, but this one has an "awnser" thats "the meaninng of your birth is of your chosing"

we have movies with this theme like megamind but the anpanman franchise has a tender and unique way of handeling this philosopical topics and that "free wil" aproach is a breath of fresh air, i saw an older post comenting on how the anpanman franchise has an obssestion with "this is your purpose stick with it" and i agree, so haveing it being of your choiçe is nice. the synopsis also inicates that baikinman made chapon to defeat anpanman, which goes rigth in hand with his water theme since anpanman is weak to water amongst other things. this makes me predic chapon's arc to mach the movie's theme ( he was made to defeat anpanman but choses what he was truely ment for which is helping others) but i dont think thats inherently a bad thing since execution is what maters to me, also we wil probably get some nice aingst out of it even if just a little.

but anyways it releases in june 27 im realy exited, chapon is my newest son and i really look forward to see his relationship with anpanman bc its gonna be cute asf
