Here's a little curiosity that I did in-between full MetaZoo trading card sets. This was -- I'm not entirely sure of the details, so please forgive me -- a retailer-exclusive trading card for ChannelFireball as part of a promotion when the Nightfall card sets became available through them. I don't know the actual circumstances of how it was released.
Anyway, you'll notice that there are two versions of the painting here. The brief from the company had said that a painting of the Headless Horseman was wanted. No problem. I remember that the turnaround time on doing this card was particularly tight, but I got this finished and turned in in a timely manner, and I was so pleased that I had gotten everything done for the week and was going to enjoy a pleasant evening with my friends...And then I got whammied with a message saying that instead of the usual pumpkin head, I was supposed to have painted the ChannelFireball yelling fireball! No one had told me! Part of the assignment brief had been accidentally lost before it got to me! Aaaah!
Fortunately, I had just so happened to have composed the painting in such a way that it wasn't too difficult to paint the fireball on a separate piece of paper and then do a digital patch job, resulting in a delay of only a couple of hours! Ha ha, phew! Everything worked out! Definitely one of the more stressful moments of my tenure freelancing for MetaZoo, though.
