I wanna go absolutely feral fae mode. I'm talkin running up trees in torn clothing with my fangs bared. I wanna be both the protector of this land and the thing that is rumored to hunt the wicked in these woods.
hey!
are you a changeling? fae kin? otherkin-fairy-adjacent? etc.?
I have some questions for you
I know what you are is probably the most common question tossed around, but I'd actually like to know why. specifically, why do you think you're here?
historically speaking, exchanges were usually made using the sickly and unwanted. that or a glamoured hunk of wood, right?
and if you don't believe yourself swapped in the traditional way, do you think it was closer to a sort of reincarnation? because that only raises more questions. especially if you believe yourself to have been one of the Aos SÃdhe, a king, queen, noble, knight or other member of the high courts
the Good Neighbors are said to be nigh immortal, so even a single one dying is a rarity. and if reincarnation is indeed the case... would not placement in the human world be considered an outright punishment?
perhaps these answers already exist somewhere on this hellsite, but I'm only just now discovering a few tags and some communities on here that are totally new to me so
even if I'm simply out of the loop, I'm quite interested to hear your take
Round 1, Match 41 — Gothabilly vs. Changelingcore
Gothabilly, also known as Hellbilly, is a subculture that merges the classic sounds and styles of 1950s American Rockabilly with the dark sensibilities of the Goth subculture. Emerging as a distinct style in the 1990s, its musical roots can be traced to the late 1970s with bands like The Cramps, who blended rock and roll with macabre, B-movie horror themes. The fashion is a "dark pin-up" look, combining traditional Rockabilly silhouettes (such as wiggle dresses, pencil skirts, and high-waisted shorts) with a gothic palette of black, red, and deep purples. These garments are often adorned with macabre or kitschy horror motifs like skulls, bats, spiderwebs, and zombies, alongside classic retro patterns like polka dots and leopard print. The aesthetic is completed with vintage-inspired hairstyles, such as victory rolls and Bettie bangs, and makeup that fuses the classic cat-eye liner of the 1950s with the darker, more dramatic lipstick and eyeshadow of the Goth scene.
vs.
Changelingcore is an aesthetic that borrows ideas from Goblincore, appreciating the same idea of mischief and the less conventional aspects of nature. It also incorporates a degree of melancholy, reflecting its origins within the neurodivergent community and the stigma that often comes with its associated conditions. The aesthetic was originally coined by Tumblr user willow-o-the-wisp as a subcategory of Fairycore specifically for neurodivergent individuals. Common visual elements include being barefoot, fairy rings, big heavy coats, moss, collections (possibly strange ones), uncanny valley, cute things with a hint of eeriness (i.e. a teddy bear with too many eyes), liminal spaces, comfort object(s) that you take everywhere, homemade jewelry, doodles everywhere and anywhere, clutter, shiny things/shinies, stompy shoes, eccentric outfits with lots of layers, dark waters, small streams full of pebbles, copper wire glasses, and ponds with a layer of fog over them.
