A "cheat" braid that winds up being very pretty is to separate the Challah into 4 equal portions. Braid together 3 in a simple braid. Take the 4th portiin and separate that into 3 sections. Do a second simple braid with the smaller dough. Put the smaller braid on top of the larger bread and use your fingers to kind of smooth the two braids together.
