The first of the chakras is the root chakra- located at the base of your spine. It is the root of your being and establishes the deepest connection with your physical body, your environment, and with the Earth. This is the most instinctual of all chakras - it is your survival center. Your fight and flight response is initiated from this chakra. This is your primal, animal nature.  The energy of the root chakra allows us to harness courage, resourcefulness and the will to live during trying times. It connects us with spiritual energies of our ancestors.  Since base chakra carries our ancestral memories, basically everyone experiences challenges or blockages within it. 

When the root chakra is out of harmony

When out of harmony, there is an inability to trust nature. We feel ungrounded, disconnected from Mother Earth, have issues with our beliefs or family wounds, do not feel secure in the knowledge that out most basic needs are being met, function out of fear and feel unsafe. 

When the root chakra is in harmony

When in harmony, we are connected to nature, we feel grounded, we trust in the natural laws, and are able to move with the ebb and flow of life. We come from a place of understanding that we will always be provided for, we feel safe and connected.
