...And then we have this, which is such a contrast to Luffy’s ‘we’re not leaving anyone behind’ mentality because Doflamingo does.........not exactly subscribe to that particular theory.

くれる/kureru means basically ‘to give.’ It’s an auxiliary verb that often attaches to a main verb, and it means that something is being done for someone/as a favor/as a gift. It shows up all the time in Japanese- you can use it for anything from making a demand to expressing gratitude.
So what Doflamingo says to Monet, when telling her to blow herself up and the island with her, is 死んでくれ/shinde kure. It’s an order- die- but also one phrased as though in doing so, she is doing him a favor, or giving him a gift. I think this line (it’s also the chapter title) is ‘Die for me’ in English, which is a good translation, it’s both correct and sounds good. A more literal but much more clumsy-sounding translation would be something like ‘give me your death.’
Jimbei on a color spread
Everyone’s going to get sick of me mentioning this throughout Dressrosa but one thing I definitely remember is how...badly Oda treated pretty much all of the girls in that arc. Baby 5 has a great design and is a literal human weapon so at the very least I’m glad she gets one good fight in here.
I’ve always loved this colorspread, especially because while they’re a long way away from meeting up with Law’s crew they’re still included here (and Sanji’s patting Bepo’s head which is extra cute).

The fact that none of them will leave unless they’re all there...
Bless this child for being the only one with sense and being so brave even when it’s clear the rest of the kids don’t want to listen
