You ever have your brain latch on to a character in a silly mobile game? I typically don't play a lot of dating sims/visual novel games but I've been trying a few out over the last week. And my brain is obsessed with a human shaped cactus who is a shy masochistic sub. I have no shame anymore because yes this is a ADULT dating sim. But probably could be considered poly and queer too. And it has traces of A/B/O because they are dependent on affection to sex pollen degree with the person who woke them MC/You.
This is Cereus, nicknamed Ceri by the MC/You. He is truly a ridiculous embodiment of so many tropes and yet I adore him. He blushes constantly. My brain is working on so many fic possibilities.
All of the plant folks have different temperates and needs based on where the plant is from. Like Ceri is a cactus so he really likes being in the sun. But another character Heliamphora/Heli only does well in the shade or dark. And he requires meat because is a carnivore type plant. One is ill and can go transparent at times named Diphylleia/Dya. And then there is VERY flirty woman not afraid to use her vines in bed named Sugarvine Ivy/Eve.
It is dark romance with evil cooperate conspiracy in the background. It is over the top tropey. And yet I'm so hooked by the characters and concepts really.
I needed to talk about it to someone and where else might this weirdness be understood but Tumblr.

The Huntington: Trio
Many desert columnar plants belong to the S. American cactus genus Cereus and they form the structure of much of the Desert Garden landscape, producing flowers in late summer and colorful fruit in September/October. The C. xanthocarpus in the lower garden is approximately 125 years old.
The most recognizable cactus displays are the 500 Echinocactus grusonii, the largest being more than 85 years old.
Cereus is a sandwing who patrols part of the Kingdom of Sand, she is very silly and goofy and I love her!!!!
