It’s #tbt Throwback Thursday! In this 1957 photograph, conductor Daniel Shelton McLennan (1879-1959) greets his wife, Rosa, after completing his last run. McLennan worked for the Central of Georgia for 40 years. He retired to his home in Albany, Georgia, and planned to fish, garden, and visit his grandchildren. In all, he spent 54 years on the railroad, after starting work at age 17 as a flagman. Today, Norfolk Southern operates 1,705 miles of track in #Georgia and 1,304 miles of track in #Alabama. We’re grateful to Norfolk Southern’s conductors for doing their part to help keep us rolling and moving the goods that move the economy. #teamwork #history #CentralofGeorgia (at Albany, Georgia)
