“Wow, you’re way off. I’m surprised more people don’t know this.”

Kafei heads over to the Curiosity Shop backroom to do some writing, away from the noise and bustle of home, and he finds a simple note tacked to the door that just reads STAY OUT. Naturally, he looks around for witnesses and creeps inside quietly and carefully.
Nothing out of the ordinary in the entryway.
He creeps up the steps, stepping on the least squeaky parts.
When he turns the corner to look in the small space, his breath catches, and he instantly thinks to run -- there's a huge wolf in a cage in the middle of the room. The cage looks...sturdy enough. The animal is much too big for it; scary as it is, Kafei feels sorry for it. Then he really does leave. He doesn't want to be caught, and what's he supposed to do for the poor thing anyway? He wishes he hadn't seen it.
He runs into the curiosity shop guy on the way out.
"For all that scribbling you do I'd think you could read better," he says dryly, handing Kafei the sign. Then he can't help but smile; he has something that's going to make him pretty rich, he wants to show off.
"Well, since you've seen it already, I might as well explain what it is," he says cheerfully, grabbing Kafei's shoulder (they both know Kafei doesn't like people grabbing him) and leading him back to the storeroom. Kafei resists getting too close to the cage, and the storeowner pushes him much closer to it than he's comfortable with to have a laugh at his predictable panicked escape.
"You're messed the fuck up," Kafei snaps, and that gets a laugh too.
