Look, I'm just extra feisty about the US government's lack of ingredient listing regulations today. Especially regarding celiac and other autoimmune food illnesses. Because I saw this last night at work and it's been making me so, so angry.
I get it, it's a greens powder dietary supplement and those aren't regulated by the FDA (which is an issue in itself). They're not required to abide by standardized nutritional labels.
But... really? "Allergen warning: None"? It says it has "organic wheat" and "barley".
Wheat is a common food allergy that's often listed on nutrition labels. You can't claim to have no allergens. Even if they meant to say "wheatgrass" -- which is different from wheat, as it's the grain itself that causes allergic reactions and is a source of gluten protein -- that's still very dangerous due to cross-contamination risks. I don't trust wheatgrass because it and the wheat grain are from the same plant.
And then, of course, there's the issues of gluten in wheat and barley, which severely impacts those of us with celiac disease. Which is its own autoimmune illness seperate from allergies.
