My name is Cee and I'm here to enjoy things on the internet. I love the manga for Gintama and have been a longtime fan now that the fandom has kinda died out I have this blog to save/archive any and all content about it.

Between there being fewer folks in my feed and digressing to other interests, I haven't posted much talk. Lol, the last Martin thing I watched was Miller's Girl a while back, which was alright, but a little triggery for me to talk about. The one thing I will say is that it was kinda gratifying watching him play that schlep and have far better chemistry with his drunken wife that he was fighting with than the student barely older than his daughter he was meant to have the hots for (although *that* sex scene is unfortunately forever burned into my retinas thanks to me reading the film script way before the film came out, well done me).

But I finally sat down to Queen of Bones (thanks to the high seas, btw, seeing as it isn't getting an easily accessible release in my part of the world). It's quite...good? Even though I saw it was being potted for not being dark enough, horror-wise, and kinda boring, I felt it was being deliberate how it drifted slowly, in an old folktaley kind of way. I liked how the story was framed from the viewpoint of his character's kids and their journey, and the desaturated languid gothic rural americana vibe of it kept me interested until the end. My attention span is often that of a flea nowadays, so it functioned pretty well.

I wonder if people are so used to quick pacing and plots and gore with streaming films/TV that anything which doesn't skip along at a pace, wind a complex story or flash at them gets criticsed as boring, ideka.

Two things with Martin in this. He grounds the crazy-scary dad role so well, and keeps the guy from veering off into clichéd trope, which is especially great when the story is smaller and humbler, like this one is. On a superficial note (maybe a little spoilery, sorry), aside from him looking handsome in 1930s garb, there's a sexyish scene which gave me whiplash with how randomly it popped up and his seemingly effortless hot kissing again (I could gif it for proof lol).

So much mischaracterization...

theres just a handful of very loud voices on mhyktwt who clearly haven't read the main stories/anni's since release and don't particularly read event/card stories, so their interpretations of characters (that get wide amount of reach bc of their follower count) are either flimsy or wrong, flat-out (not in the way that I don't like them bc that's fine, I love reading analysis that I disagree with, because seeing how other people interpret things is important intellectually, but that I can point to multiple areas of the text where - excusing the possibility of my references being mistranslations- they would just Be Wrong) or they post something thats clearly just inflammatory but it circles anyway.. .the post this is in response to is my tags on this right ?

im getting on my hands and knees and saying i would like to see every tumblr mhykkies takes because here, we have the space to actually discuss and build interpretations, and even if you think something is nothing or that you're corn-plating, you're still adding to the overall fandom just by yapping and rambling. and maybe i just wish mhyk had been released ten years ago, when fandom wasnt as cold of an experience as it is now, but i want us to share each others joys ... idk who it was but someone in the fandom was getting an anon live-blogging them going through main story 1 and posting the asks in the main tag and it was such a genuinely joyful experience to watch.
