Final Reflection Statment
For this assignment we were tasked with creating a transport app in groups of two. We needed to create user-flow screens, a promo video and logo for our app concept. I paired up with Chinmayee, and we came up with an idea for a carpool app designed to encourage people to carpool together to earn fuel and gas vouchers. We wanted the app to be fun and friendly, as well as easy to use for a wide audience.
At first it was very easy to come up with ideas as to how the app worked, and the creative juices flowed very freely. However, I felt that we had slightly conflicting ideas about how we wanted the app to look - from the colour scheme, to buttons on the page and user-flows. I was happy to decide on whatever worked best for the app, and sometimes that meant agreeing even if I wasn’t sure about a decision.
Creating the wireframes proved to be an interesting challenge, as there were several pathways and pages that we hadn’t thoughts that we needed. We had to talk it out and often ask other groups for help deciding if we couldn’t agree. Once we had the wireframes finished it did not take very long to create the final screens with the imagery and colours, and after that the promotional video was finished quickly as well.
I struggled with my time management for this project, as I had other assignments due before this one which had to be finished first, so this project was pushed to the end, which meant that I felt a little rushed the week before it was due.
If we had to repeat this assignment again, I would probably try to stand up more for myself, and try to pitch my thoughts and ideas a little harder to get them included in our project. I would also try to manage my time better, so everything isn’t so last minute. I would try to set more goals for each week and stick to them, instead of pushing them until I had time to finish them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this project, and it was fun working with someone I am friends with, and it was super fun to come up with an app concept that could work in real life.
