I think Fresh just has like... very bad eyesight. He has a singular octopus eye [who are usually pretty short-sighted], behind sunglasses. That guy is seeing Nothinggggg

To me... I find it amusing to imagine he usually uses other things to tell people apart. He can tell shapes and colors and limited detail, and usually that's good enough, but when that isn't he'll use things like scent, taste and magic [I'm mixing both of those together for Fresh. ie. he can taste/smell magic in the air.]

I imagine this because... he's a creature that's adapted to eating magic and stuff, and Soul's are just the purest and easiest to digest form of it [for him]. Being able to track magic signatures would be very useful for that type of animal :-]
