We're Missing the Fun
. . .
“Cat!”
“Beck! Hey, I thought you were in Canada?” Cat turned to find Beck, looking as effortlessly handsome as ever. Cat had gone inside the school to dry off a bit with some paper towels. She had been on her way out of the bathroom when she had seen Beck, searching the halls.
“Yeah. I came back early when I heard about the prom, or what was it again, prome?” he scratched his head searchingly. Cat giggled and shifted on her feet.
“My date set himself on fire. He’s gone now. In the hospital,” she added nodding. Beck raised an eyebrow and nodded along with her.
“Ah, that’s too bad Cat. Have you seen Jade? Wait why are you wet,” he asked as an afterthought.
“Because there weren't enough paper towels in the bathroom,” she explained.
“What?” Beck asked confusedly.
“Jade made it rain, because she hates Tori, and we got wet. I came inside to dry off but there weren't enough paper towels and also the hand drier was making me sweat,” she continued. Beck was still slightly confused, but chose to accept her explanation.
“Okay… so where is Jade now?” he asked, pushing his hands into his pockets.
“She left,” Cat shrugged.
“Oh, well I guess I should just…” he trailed off unsure of himself.
“Stay!” Cat exclaimed.
“Stay?” he asked.
“Yeah, stay!” she repeated, offering no further explanation. Beck chuckled to himself and shook his head in wonder.
“I don’t know, I should probably find Jade,” he replied.
“But we all missed you,” she countered. His eyes widened slightly in surprise. “And we’re gonna dance and have fun and be really, really happy together,” she added. Beck couldn't contain the smile that fought it’s way to his lips.
“Well…” he considered her offer.
“Come on! Tori, Robbie and I are all dateless now. And I think Andre is hiding from his date. We’ll have fun,” she assured him.
“Okay,” he finally said.
“Okay?” she asked excitedly.
“Yeah, okay,” he nodded. Cat squealed and jumped up enthusiastically. She rushed forward and pulled his hand from his pocked, tangling it with her own.
“Let's go! We’re missing the fun,” she told him, pulling him with her down the hall.
Beck had come home early with the intention of seeing his girlfriend. But Jade was nowhere in sight. And at that very moment, he was perfectly content with that.

Come Home Soon
. . .
“Pick up, pick up!”
“Hello?” Beck’s deep voice sounded through the phone and prompted a smile to appear on Cat’s lovely face.
“You picked up!” Cat exclaimed happily. Beck chuckled lightly and let the redhead’s soft voice wash over him.
“I did,” he agreed. “What’s up Cat?” he wondered, surprised that she had called him.
“Tori and Jade are fighting over a part in the play and Jade is being mean, and Robbie is in the hospital and Tori is giving him blood, and I met a man with tuberculosis, and Trina is trying to cough like him. Oh, and Andre said I might have broke one of his ear drums,” she rambled quickly. Beck furrowed his eyebrows and tried to comprehend the information he had just heard.
“Wait, slow down. What’s going on with Jade and Tori?” he asked.
“They both want to be the captain of the ship. But Tori got the part and now Jade is angry,” Cat explained sadly.
“Is she trying to sabotage Tori?” he asked knowingly.
“No. But she is trying to keep her from being in the play,” Cat replied. Beck rolled his eyes at Cat’s lack of understanding.
“Cat, that is saba- never mind. Look, I’ll call Jade and try to talk to her,” he promised.
“Thanks Beck,” she smiled as she spoke and Beck could almost picture her dimples appearing on her perfect cheeks.
“No problem. Hey, you said Robbie is in the hospital. Is he okay?” Beck asked, remembering her earlier words.
“They have to take a car out of his intestines,” she answered. Beck wondered briefly if Cat was just being Cat, or if Robbie really did have some kind of car stuck in him. In the end he decided to leave well enough alone.
“He’ll be okay though, right?” he asked.
“Yeah, I think so. I really wish you were here Beck,” Cat whispered the last part, sounding almost embarrassed.
“Everything will be okay Cat,” he assured her, touched by her words.
“You always know the right thing to say,” she added.
“You can call me. Anytime,” he told her seriously.
“Okay,” she replied quietly.
“It was really nice talking to you Cat,” Beck told her, realizing how much he truly meant that.
“Come home soon?” she asked.
“I will,” he promised. “I will…”
