Descartes is Interesting
Descartes is very interesting - I just remembered that bit from when we studied him a little in philosophy class last fall. That whole concept of “you can’t trust anything your senses tell you so how do we know anything’s actually real” is pretty much the exact point of his First Meditation, then the Second Meditation is the famous “cogito ergo sum.” I think he also wrote some stuff on the concepts of subjectivity and objectivity that my class picked apart and ultimately condemned on the grounds that Cartesian “objectivity” is a) impossible and b) a really Euro-centric concept
