I think Rian Johnson uses Catholicism for aesthetic purposes only, which is totally VALID for him (because I'd do the same lol), but as some point out, the characters feel more Evangelical? And for me, more than the mentions of Jesus, the telltale sign (of the movie being made by someone who was brought up Protestant) is the fact that the Pope isn't mentioned at all, lol. Wicks should have ranted about the Woke Pope(s) at least once.

A problem with my growing Conclave obsession is that I grew up Catholic. I have been an altar server. I have served an actual Cardinal and had a personal conversation with him.
I have no problem with anyone who adheres to the Catholic faith and church, it just isnât mine anymore. It is still that of my family. Who donât know itâs not mine. I am home for Christmas and significantly too enthusiastic about various broadcasts from Rome, and the prospect of going to church. I only didnât accompany my dad to the local cathedral last Sunday because said cathedral is freezing.
Someone, somewhere is gonna get the wrong idea about my newfound devotionâŚ
I understand itâs a holiday, but itâs also a Holy DayâIâm surprised that every parish in my area had Mass at 9 AM and thatâs it. No evening Masses at all. Highly unusual and kind of disappointing (of course I know how much priests have on their plate, I just wish that one parish could have had evening insteadâplenty of people, including me, still have to work!).

Yâ ever have one of those experiences? Where youâre praying an extended novena to a specific saint? For a very specific purpose and/or reason? And? With only a few days left before the novena ends? Things get EVEN WORSE??? And you KNOW? That youâre supposed to sit back and Trust? But you canât help? Wanting to STRANGLE the Saint youâre currently praying to???????? You know?

Our church had a special dedication on Saturday for a sanctuary space they created in honor of Our Lady of Medjugorge. It was kind of a big deal for our parish, the bishop came to speak and everything. Part of the event was praying the rosary, and our priest asked for my two oldest to lead the congregation for two decades of the rosary.
Since Our Lady of Medjugorge is Croatian, and we have a large Filipino population, the first two decades were led by people who prayed in Croatian and Tagalog. Then my two boys and one other person were supposed to close it out in English.
Except my 12 year old apparently felt inspired to use the Latin heâs been studying, so he got up to that microphone, and without warning anyone, just broke out into Latin. Which would have been fine except that in his excitement, he totally flubbed the order of the prayers.
Everyone was really nice about it and said they were just impressed he knew the prayers in Latin. But something tells me that Father Jeff probably wonât be asking M to speak at an event again any time soon.
