The whole story of Dorothy, Bat Magician and Mouse Magician befriending Luna is so bittersweet. Dorothy, in particular, was jealous of how Luna got to be a witch while she’s still stuck as an apprentice under the Beast Magician. Despite her swearing to ruin Luna’s life, Luna is socially awkward, so she assumed Dorothy wanted to befriend her so she made her tea and snacks, shocking her. Eventually, the feral cat gets tamed into a domesticated one as she spends a lot of time visiting Luna and slowly becoming a better person. Since Luna is a poison witch who filters toxicity and changes them into mushrooms, it’s like as if she sucked out the toxicity from Dorothy and filtered her air. Her change is put to the ultimate test when she decides to rescue one of her cats from the White Witch’s castle, knowing that it could end up with her dead; Dorothy wasn’t afraid as the time she spent with Luna helped her become kinder and more compassionate towards others. Sisi was the black cat that Dorothy had wth her, just changed into a cute fairy form.

It was sad seeing Luna tearing up over knowing her friend had died. Regardless, knowing that she died due to an act of kindness made her happy but still upset. It sucks that the Bat Magician and Mouse Magician had to go into hiding afterwards, with the Mouse Magician turning into a mouse and possibly staying at Luna’s place. I don’t know where the Bat Magician is. Is he at Luna’s house too?

Since Luna’s social life is full of losses, does this mean that her relationship with Lizel will end in tragedy? Given that Lizel is the narrator of this story, Luna could be the one who’s dead, but I don’t want to jump to conclusions. Anyways, the fact that he revealed his true name out in the open worries me—the anime is cruel for ending it like that. However, since Luna did take the curse out of his body, maybe there won’t be a reaction? Lizel’s life is also full of tragedy as his biological mother died and his adoptive mother, his aunt, wanted him gone due to him being a cursed youngling. He got stabbed and thrown off the cliff during a walk in the forest with his horse—what happened to his horse? I guess it’s fate that he met Luna because it’s like their tragedies are attracting each other like magnets.

The Bat Magician is voiced by Kentaro Kumagai who voiced Laios from Delicious in Dungeon. The Mouse Magician is voiced by Makoto Koichi who voiced Rioh from Medalist. The White Witch Queen is voiced by Akari Higuchi who voiced Benedikta from Final Fantasy XVI. Lizel’s mother is voiced by Mie Sonozaki who voices Maki in Digimon Beatbreak and also Emiri’s mother in Journal With Witch.

This is the first episode where I shed some tears—no, I didn’t shed tears when she had to part with Henri. I don’t know why the part where Dorothy’s spirit materialized made me tear up, but it did. Also, did Claude use those rocks to make another set of earrings because I swore he only had earrings on his left side and not on both ears… Let me know your thoughts on this episode!
