And don’t just say “Day of the Dead,” that one took place mostly in an underground bunker, it could have been set anywhere.  I want a zombie movie that really feels like it belongs down here.  Houses are boarded up, not with planks and nails, but hurricane shutters.  There are thousands of derelict boats floating just off the coast, or run aground on a stretch of beach; some have survivors, but most are either empty or dead.  There are zombies slogging their way through the swamp, getting stuck, sinking in the mud, turning into undead landlines for any unsuspecting survivors.  It’s hot and humid, there are bugs everywhere; the mosquitoes are harmless because they don’t bite zombies, but the flies would definitely carry the infection.  Without Doppler radar, nobody knows when the next hurricane will form; the protagonists have to hunker down when the winds and rain start getting nasty.  Is this a normal storm, or is it The Big One?  Streets flood, cars and small buildings are swept away, zombies become debris, blown around by gale force winds, tumble to pieces as they skid across the ground, helplessly adrift in the floodwaters.  There are no sandbags, no blankets, no paper towels, FEMA is long gone (not that they would have handled it much better).  These natural disasters would be devastating!  People die all the time in regular hurricanes, but a hurricane during the zombie apocalypse would leave almost no survivors. 

But on a serious note, for those who are also in Florida, please stay safe! Make sure you have everything you need, know your escape routes, and plan accordingly. This won’t be our first hurricane and it surely won’t be the last but this one is gonna be a big one
