He had been hiding. He had been hiding for days. Ever since he got back last Friday, he realized he hadnāt left his villa. He had not answered any of Connorās calls or texts. He hadnāt spoken to Xander. He had avoided almost everyone, only seeing like two people that came over. He was sick to his stomach. He had been struggling, he had decided to finally move on, to make himself get better. He had fought through his hate and fear of his Uncle. He had confronted him. He had changed himself at his core. So why couldnāt he just finish what he needed to do? He was sitting, only in his boot now, his cast finally off. The doctor said the boot would speed up recovery time and on the bright side, easy removal so he could shower alone and without difficulty.Ā
He was sitting on the end of his couch. His heart beating fast, it was raining, he had noticed that a bit ago. Bentley was laying on the couch not far away. Obviously wanting to be close but not bother him. Cade was in a mood, not a great one, he took a slow breath. Eyes falling closed, wet and hot. He didnāt know how long heād been crying, but none of it mattered. He missed Casey. He needed Casey. He needed him more than he could properly express, he felt like he was dying and he just wanted his best friend.Ā
On his table, no more than five feet from him was something he hadnāt looked at since he moved into his villa. Michaelās ashes. The urn sitting across from him. His eyes opened slowly to look at the gold and white vessel holding his former love. He had been angry, he had fought it, it may have taken years but he had moved on to acceptance and he wanted to let him go, he just didnāt know how to start and he wanted to scream. He finally stood, for probably the fifth time in the last two hours, pacing around the room.Ā
He ran his hands through his hair, pulling up his phone. His long multiple paragraph text to Casey still sitting in the drafts. He stared at his phone. He wanted to send it, but he began backspacing, questioning everything he was writing for the millionth time today. He deleted the entire message and tossed his phone at the couch. A bit angrier than he meant too, causing Bentley to jump up and move away. The dog not getting off the couch but moving to the other end of it. Cade wanted to apologize to the dog, but he had already laid back down and seemed to be going to sleep once more.Ā
Dressed in a pair of old sweatshorts and a loose-fitting t-shirt, he snatched his keys off of the couch, leaving his phone behind. He started for the door, stopped. He started and stopped a few times. He turned back and moved to kiss Bentley on the top of the head,Ā āIāll be back babe.ā He whispered to the dog, knowing it was super late. As far as Cade knew, Casey was probably out or busy with some boy. Hell he would probably slam the door in Cadeās face. He didnāt care anymore, he needed to do this, he couldnāt sit here anymore.Ā
Walking out of his house, his face red and wet. A combination of the nightās rain and his own crying, plastered to his face. He made the long walk up the hill to Caseyās villa. He hadnāt brought his phone, heād usually never show up without calling Casey first, but the thought didnāt even cross his mind. When he reached the door, hard raps to the wood, he just stood, half collapsed against the door. He wasnāt even sure what time it was but he knew it was after midnight. He probably looked a fucking mess, wet and pathetic. He gave zero fucks, standing, hand smacking on the door. The waiting at the door seemed to last forever, the motion light on the porch having come on, he knew Casey was aware he was here. He had to get explain, he had to apologize, he had to ask for help.Ā
