Effective Workarounds to Solve Canon Printer Not Printing Issue

To avoid the printer not printing black issue, you should use the printer on a regular basis. Also, it is recommended to use genuine ink cartridges to your printer. If you find that the Canon printer not printing black properly, then to solve this matter check whether the printhead is moving freely or not.

Check the Printhead   

The steps to implement to solve the printhead moving problem is very simple and are explained below. Hopefully, with the help of the following steps, you can get rid of the Canon printer issue efficiently.

The advanced printers come with the “Deep Cleaning” option by which you can deal with the problem. However, for the printers without the “Deep Cleaning” option, you need to clean the printhead manually. Both the method steps are explained below. So go with your suitable option. 

Option 1: Using “Deep Cleaning” option

  First of all, turn on the printer and place 3 (approx) papers inside the input paper tray.

  Locate the Home button and press it.

  After that, select the Setup option using the navigation keys.

  Further, go with the Maintenance option and select “Deep Cleaning”.

  Now, confirm the process by selecting the Yes option> OK.

  Once the deep cleaning task is done the related message will be displayed on the printer screen. Click on OK.

Now, check the error status. Most probably, the printer will start to print again.

Option 2: Clean the Printhead Manually

Both the advanced and old printer’s printhead can be cleaned manually. To do this process, allow the following steps:

  Turn on your printer and then open the top cover of the machine.

  Move the carrier of the printer to the right-hand direction and then from the left side locate and hold the gear. Turn the gear clockwise until a click sound occurs. (Turn the gear slowly so that no physical damage takes place.)

  Now, move the carrier towards left until the cartridge position comes to the open portion. Press the “cartridge unlock button” to uninstall the cartridges one-by-one.

  Between check the cartridges whether ink is present or not. Absence of ink is another main factor results in Canon printer not printing black issue.

  After that, take a brush and clean the loose dust. Next using a soft cloth (slightly wet it into the hot water) remove the ink mark from the printhead.

  Once all these steps are done, reassemble the printer. During reinstalling the ink cartridges check whether you place the cartridges to their correct colored position which is very important.

  Next, close the printer door and then check whether the printer problem gets solved or not.

Identify the Problematic Cartridge to Replace

  Turn on the printer and then press down the Home button and select Setup> Maintenance.

  Next, with the help of the navigation keys highlight the “Printhead Nozzle Check” option. Tap on OK to continue.

  Now, you will get a printed page out from the printer outlet. This printed page will help you to identify the not working cartridge from the installed cartridges.
