Considering her unique family background, which parent or step-parent do you think Demeter shares the closest bond with, and why?
Her momma, Carrie, one hundred and fifty percent. Don't get her wrong, she loves her step parents very much, and loves that they immediately took charge and treated her as their own - but even when she was little, before the divorce, Demeter was very close to her mother.
Freddy- Demeter's sperm donor (she refuses to call him anything else) would often torment the kids to try and get them to their "full potential" to make them more fucked up like him behind Carrie's back. Threatening to kill mommy if they told her what he was doing, as an added cherry on top. When he wasn't doing that, he wasn't even there, spreading torment to the teens of Elm Street and leaving them alone.
Carrie would comfort her beloveds when their father was gone, thinking everything was okay, she just wanted her children to do what THEY wanted to do, and she often told them that.
Well, Carrie wasn't stupid, she knew her children well, and when they started acting out, and got quieter, she finally took the two aside on a day Freddy was away and asked them what was wrong
Exhausted, terrified, and broken, the kids broke down in tears about what Freddy was doing and what he'd threatened, begging not to tell him. The mother broke down as well in horror, holding her children close and apologizing for what seemed like hours, heartbroken she'd let this happen.
Carrie took the kids to a friend's (who happened to be Jason and his family) and she came back in an hour with all of their things, down to the last toy, down to the last crumb. Neither kid knows what happened between Freddy and Carrie, they just know that mama came back, said daddy would never hurt them again, and that was that.
Ever since then, Demeter grew closer and closer to her Mama, and just wants to make her happy and loved.
