for all my fellow touring riders stuck on the locked CarPlay situation with 19-23 Boom! GTS dashes
was this close to dropping nearly $300 on the factory WHIM headset module + paid built-in nav just to get turn-by-turn on the dash. kept thinking thereβs no way it should cost that much just to mirror my phone to a screen thatβs already there.
ended up trying a tiny bypass adapter on a whim from a rider forum recommendation, and honestly? total game changer.
no expensive headset required, no separate map unlock fees. plug it in, hook up my iPhone, and full CarPlay pops right up on the dash. all my phone navigation apps, playlists, Siri directions work exactly as they should β same end result as the factory setup, zero recurring costs.
saved that money for extra fuel and a new riding jacket instead of dealer-mandated upgrades. if youβre on the fence about shelling out for OEM parts just for CarPlay, worth looking into this workaround for sure.
