Yesterday afternoon Nick and I saw the delightful immersive Sweeney Todd production which is set in an pie shop with a three piece combo playing Stephen Sondheim's brilliant score. The cast led by Norm Lewis as Sweeney and Carolee Carmello as Mrs. Lovitt was superb.  As Mrs. Lovitt, Carolee Carmello is giving the performance of a lifetime. She seduces the audience with wit and humor seldom seen in other portrayals of this character and her dramatic singing voice is put to exquisite use. One of the joys of having a small musical ensemble and non-miked voices is that one can really revel in the genius lyrics of Mr. Sondheim.  #caroleecarmello #nyctheater #sondheim
